In the World Cup, Joe Ingles helped get Australia to the Round of 16 where they lost to Turkey. The Australians were involved in bit of controversy for allegedly throwing a game in group play to help avoid Team USA for as long as possible. In the FIBA tournament, Joe Ingles averaged 11.4 points, 3.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 31.0 minutes. He also made 69.7 percent of his shots over five games.
During the group play round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, Joe Ingles was leading Australia in a way that had people talking about him finally becoming an NBA player. There were reports that he was a lock to make it to the NBA this season on a guaranteed contract, five years after not being selected in the 2009 draft. The Australian forward had showed enough consistency and skill in international play to firmly get on the NBA radar.
It looks like those reports are coming to fruition. Marc Stein of ESPN.com is reporting that Ingles and the Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a one-year deal to bring him over to the NBA. There isn't any word on whether it is a fully guaranteed deal for Ingles, but it does bring the Clippers' roster to 15 players at the moment, so they had the room to add him.
